You can now buy the hardcover of Crown of Salt in my store!

Flakes fall over the valley, even when there isn’t a single cloud in the sky. Steps crunch against the crystalline crust.

It's not snow.

What is Crown of Salt?

A compatible with Mörk Borg scenario, with 120 pages loaded with full color illustrations, each of them will take you closer and closer to madness and weirdness. An exploration of the unknown, a strange and otherworldly journey where the player characters chase after a legend buried under Grift's salt plains. Very easy to insert to any on-going games, while also providing several hooks for the player characters for a stand alone game.

Initially developed for the spanish OSR "La Marca del Este", Crown of Salt has been translated to english and adapted not only to the system, but to the Mörk Borg's setting. Being a rules light game, Crown of Salt is easy to convert to the OSR of your choice.

Includes:

+ Original soundtrack of the scenario.

 + Character classes.

 + Oneshot.

+ 10 Lost Fools (premade characters).

Hello, would you please add some community copies if possible?

Hello! I just read the book and I really liked it! I'm hoping to run it soon. I was wondering if you're going to release a version with just the art? Some of these pieces would make for great wallpapers and it be nice to use them on my VTT.

How do I even start? This may very well be the best piece of 3rd party MB media available. (My opinion, of course) My wife bought the physical copy for me for Christmas, and I haven’t put it down to read the other 3 adventures I got yet. I am in awe of the entirety of it. The narrative intro and supporting scenes that read and feel like a fairytale novel? Immediately hooked.  The eye-grabbing layout that is somehow both immaculately organized and reminiscent of the core book? Applause. The c l e a n, icy color palette, interrupted by bold reds indicative of story hooks?! I’m crying. The brilliant and original adversaries and world building?! (Don’t get me started on the Polar Bear.) The original OST album to boot? I have only so many tears of joy, please.  I know everyone has their gripes about the save or suck rolls, but that’s Mork Borg, babeyyyy, you came here to die.

This is a work of true artistic grit and unbridled creativity. I didn’t even notice the typos, that’s how engaging it is — stellar English translation, by the way. Tania Herrero truly cannot receive enough praise for this absolute masterpiece.

Love it. Like a lot. A couple of spelling and grammar errors though.

Thank you! And sorry about that. English is not my first language and Crown of Salt was made before I had the funds to hire an actual editor.

I purchased the physical version of Crown of Salt on your website, but the digital downloads provided there did not include the soundtrack or single pages. Is repurchasing on Itch the only way to get these? I love the design of the adventure by the way.

Thank you so much for flagging this! The files on my store have been updated. You should be able to access your downloads there and get the OST+Loops + single pages. Let me know if you have any issue at thebreadwyrm@gmail.com.

Cheers!

Thank you! I haven't seen any changes or gotta any emails about an update, but I'll give it some time and let you know if that doesn't change.

I gave the book a proper read, finally, not just reading the pictures and the bits and bobs that appealed directly to me. While I'm extremely fond of Crown of Salt, I think it's got one too many 'save or suck' rolls where if you biff a check, your character dies with no real way of surviving things. I confess games like Mork Borg aren't my usual wheelhouse, but I figure with the Descent and the underworld full of brine and salt being so dangerous, it would be extremely hard to justify replacement PCs.

You're not in a place anyone is supposed to be. You're in a forbidden, dangerous hellhole. And maybe there's one other adventurer there, like the survivor you can find, but past a certain point it'd become ridiculous. I also felt like, with how much information the PCs might get cluing them into the fact that gathering the Crown is a horrible idea, there's plenty who would just turn around and leave.

But I think this is just my personal tastes. In terms of save or suck rolls, I think it's a lot more interesting when you're transformed, changed, cursed, inflicted with some terrible (but not game removing) fate. The art goes hard as always. I really, REALLY liked the spinoff goblin adventure and kinda felt it had a much more solid adventure design? Felt like the goals the PCs had was better defined and having NPCs with contrasting personalities to work off is always a delight.

I've been thinking about the subject of save-or-die rolls recently. One way to use the ones from Crown of Salt without changing anything about them is to make them obvious to the players. Saying "there's an old, rotting rope ladder here" or even going as far as "hey if you use this rope ladder, there's a 1 in 3 chance it breaks and you plummet to your death". This encourages the players to think of workarounds (e.g. tie their own rope). And if they can't or won't, there's always the informed choice to gamble with the 1 in 3 chance of death.

I saw it on Bluesky! Such a great start, can't wait to see what you guys do next. Glad you are enjoying it so far!

Buenos días, hace unos meses adquirí la versión física del libro ¿habría alguna manera de conseguir una copia en pdf para mi iPad sin tener que comprar el libro otra vez en digital?

Hola Chrissett! Perdona, acabo de leer tu mensaje. ¿Dónde has comprado esa copia? Debería incluir el PDF y todos los extras digitales de forma gratuita. Puedes mandarme mejor un mail thebreadwyrm@gmail.com con los detalles.

Superb adventure.

I've implemented everything on Foundry and my players were super thrilled ! Thanks !

Really nice adventure both in substance and form. Tania, huge congrats on creating one of the most compelling, interesting, and original adventures for Mork Borg!!

In a few days, my party will descend into the rifts of the Salt Plains!

I did the ks on this and just wow. the book, the extras, and even the ost. stellar work, thought, and creation right into this project. Absolutely worth your time and dollars.

Ahhhh, this is SO COOL, absolutely beautiful art and amazing worldbuilding.

Cool. As. Hell. Can I get a physical version of this anywhere? Or was that limited to the Kickstarter?

Any chance a Pages version might be added to the downloads?

(+1)(-1)

Sorry but it's not something I'd like to do, as the book is not made to be seen as single pages.

gotcha - thanks anyway.

I was hoping to print and bind the book myself is it at all possible to get it in single pages for that reason at all? Here is a link to something I did recently for a different game if that helps. I do print for double page spreads if that helps my case.

Hi there! I intend to upload a singles version soon! I've been busy with the shipping of the book, but it will be there in a few daws. Ty for the patience!
That binding looks GORGEOUS.

Thanks for the compliment and I look forward to binding your book when i can. I'ĺl send photos when i do

Seconding a single page version for using the PDF on tablet.

A mind-blowing adventure, with disturbing landscapes and a narrative that inspires you to play it. Also with many options and high replayability. A 5/5 product.
