Fomoria - Quickstart
A downloadable game
This Quickstart features an early version of the game and offers a peek at Fomoria’s TTRPG. Many of the rules and content will change in the final version of the game. Please, take a minute to send your feedback and help make the game better!
In the earth’s dark womb, there is no Sun, and Darkness swallows all light. Gazing to the Roof above, Folk only find the distant glow of False Stars.
Fomoria stretches endlessly, a labyrinth of shifting tunnels and yawning caverns. Maps are lies, memories betray. Familiar paths twist. The promise of discovery leads to wonders and doom.
The Strata breathes. It shifts. It dreams in stygian shades, a colossal sleeper stirring and reshaping its own flesh. Even the Darkness watches.

Fomoria is an epic folk horror TTRPG taking place in a dark, weird and inhospitable subterranean world. Player characters take the role of Folk, children of the lost Surface, shaped by a Sun they’ve never seen. Draped in claw and strangeness, they gather under clans that hold the last embers of purpose and order.
Player characters are united in a cabal, a small group drawn from different clans, bound together by duty or necessity. You hunt the Eldritch, purge the Red Plague, face the horrors of the insidious Darkness and serve the whims of the powerful. You will descend into tunnels that shift, eat and lie, negotiate with beings that called this place home long before the Folk’s descent, and navigate the frictions between your clans.

Fomoria uses MÖRK BORG’s rules-light system to support a setting that favors improvisation, fast resolution and the flow of play over mechanical complexity. It also gives more relevance to character development, what ties them to their communities and to each other, and their journey to gain renown.
It’s the characters, not the numbers, that drive the tale forward. And while you will most likely perish, you will not let your name be forgotten in silence down below.

Fomoria is the work of two people who find delight in building strange places with monsters and lots of bones.
Tania Herrero read the guts of beasts to write, design and illustrate the world of Fomoria. Creator of the award-winning MÖRK BORG adventure Crown of Salt and many other art and mood-heavy modules.
Johan Nohr shaped those feverish dreams into layout, his graphic design a catalyst for both grotesque nightmares and eerie wonders. Co-creator of MÖRK BORG, CY_BORG, and graphic designer for Into the Odd Remastered, ALIEN RPG Evolved Edition, Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying, to name a few titles.

Hi! First of all, the art in this is absolutely phenomenal. The charcoal texture combined with a limited color palette works so well to create the dark and intriguing atmosphere. It's straight up mesmerizing. Along with the beautiful writing used in the world building, the game book itself almost reads like a horror tale. And I really like the concept of the Darkness crossing the line from a simple characteristic of the world to become almost an Entity of it's own.
I was wondering if you would allow me to translate this early version of the game into Portuguese, for free. I'm a recently graduated Brazilian translator, trying to build my portfolio, and I would absolutely love to make this game available to other Brazilian players. I would send you the translated text for you to publish, and ask only that you credit me.
I noticed that the third party license for Mörk Borg does not allow for translations of the original text, but I wasn't sure if that rule extends to this work, since it is under that third party license, but is not officially related to Mörk Borg. I understand if there are legal complications other than this one as well, or if you simply do not wish to have your game translated.
Either way, I can't wait for the Kickstarted launch! This is already an incredible project
The arts and layout are beautiful. Good luck with the crowdfunding, Tania and team.
I scream for the eleventy-thousandth time: "I'm not a FURRY!!" and click the download button to obtain my dark fantasy fix.
Me gusta mucho tu trabajo, si llegas a publicarlo en español estoy dispuesto a adquirirlo
This looks *stunning*!
I've not been massively swayed by a lot of games in the Mörk Borg space, but this one's an instant favorite. I always love a weird subterranean setting, and Fomoria seems very evocative for sure!
Looking forward to maybe running this in the new year, and likely backing the KS!
Perfect last minute addition to my Every furry games list. Will be awaiting the full release!
I am 110% here for this. I will back that Kickstarter the second it goes live.
same here
